2012 Olympics Marketing Coup

Addicted to the Olympics?  Then you’ve  noticed “Beats” headphone brand by Dr. Dre.  The fashion accessory/headsets have been worn by so many athletes, especially as they are warming up for their events.  Athletes are not suppose to promote sponsors (Rule 40) but Dr. Dre has pulled off the marketing coup of the entire Olympics.  How did he pull it off? A British reporter secretly followed an athlete and said,  “Athletes from the top 20 countries from the Olympics have been invited. You walk in, have your photo taken in front of the ‘b’ logo and receive a pair of headphones in your team colors.”  Go team Dr. Dre!
